In 300 words or less, please describe why SPJ is important:
SPJ is critical in connecting our college to the journalism community. It is the best way to meet and connect with professionals in the field, to stay up to date on the goings on in journalism, and a great way to interact with fellow journalism enthusiasts. By having SPJ we are able to go to seminars, workshops, mixers, and other events where we can meet professionals, learn more about journalism outside of the classroom, and have fun! The great thing about SPJ is that you don’t HAVE to be a journalism major to join. It’s a group open to anyone with an interest in journalism! SPJ is definitely critical to keeping our campus connected to the journalism world!

In 300 words or less, please tell us why you’re applying for your chosen position and what you will bring to e-board:
I am applying for the position of Vice President because it is an important position I am ready to fill. I am an active photojournalism major with a passion for good news and immersing myself in the journalism world. Brainstorming event ideas, making contacts with professional journalists, and getting our UC-SPJ chapter active is something I am very passionate about! I look forward to more interaction with the Cincinnati SPJ Chapter, other professional journalist, trying to recruit new SPJ members, and incorporate more photojournalism activities into SPJ!
